Agape

AGAPE MINISTRY: People helping People!

Our purpose as Agape members is to be a channel for the Holy Spirit’s work of blessing in the lives of people. We are to act as a conduit God uses to generously pour out his love.

Agape is an OSBC Ministry that serves as an outlet for mature believers to minister to church members who are hurting or going through life’s most difficult times, and to encourage and lift up the body of Christ.

We are always seeking new members to fulfill and grow this ministry! We need people in all areas, including: cooking, delivery of meals, visiting, serving funerals or helping with home repairs and upkeep.

If you would like to become a part of this ministry, please contact Gail Walker (940)549-7253 or Loyall Watkins at the church (940) 549-3313.

What We Do:

Meals
The Agape ministry provides meals to families going through a crisis such as sickness, hospital stays or the death of a loved one. They also provide meals at joyful times, such as the birth of a new baby or moving into a new home. The ministry maintains three freezers that are kept stocked with meals lovingly prepared by Agape members who love to cook for those in need.

Delivery Team
The Agape ministry has volunteers who deliver these meals to the families.

Bereavement Team
This team prepares meals for funerals and also serves and ministers to grieving families.

Cards
The card ministry reaches out to our church family for birthdays, illnesses or deaths. Cards are sent to our Oak Street widows and widowers at every holiday or special event to remind them how special they are to Oak Street.

Visitation
Volunteers make up our four visitation teams: Love, Joy, Grace and Hope. Each team has different members who commit to visit the widows and elderly one week each month. Each team member has the opportunity to visit two of our special ladies during their week. This is a blessing for both our ladies and our Agape members to have the privilege of getting to know each other better.

In addition, there is a team of volunteers who give of their time to take our elderly to doctor appointments.

Agape Men
The Agape ministry includes men, too! These are our Deacons who volunteer to provide visits to widowers and older married men who may need or appreciate some occasional male companionship. This ministry also helps with odd jobs or makes minor repairs when elderly home owners are unable to do them any longer — either physically or financially.
