Oak Street Baptist Church recognizes that the Bible clearly states that church leaders are called to serve. Since the primary roles of the Church are to worship God and introduce Him to a needy world, our Church has adopted a Constitution and By-Laws that emphasizes people.
The roles of Elders and Deacons are spelled out in the OSBC Constitution. Selection of these men is done annually, with strict adherence to scriptural principles. After qualification interviews, each person is approved by the church body. After a year of satisfactory service, deacons and elders are ordained at a worship service set aside for this special purpose. Elders serve on five-year rotating terms, and deacons serve on three-year rotating terms.
